So the game has been out the better part of a month or three and I was curious as to people's thoughts on the game overall? Not that I am going to actually play (I just can never get into these "collectible games for some reason) but I am curious as to what perople's thoughts are on it.

Personal commitments (gaming and otherwise) mean oppurtunities to play PIRATES  are limited for me, but I still think it's a durn good game.

STILL looking for British Captains.  Got just about everything else.  Really gotta start visiting the larger organized groups, if just for trading.

My brain is working over a conversion for 7th Sea to be able to easily use the Pirates ships, I think I'm almost there. If anyone is interested PM me and I'll either start up a topic about it or just email you.

Hey All!

Finally got to play this game, during our "Anti-Football Party".  Turned out just 3 players of our group that are not big football fans, so we played POTSM, and I was Spanish, my GM was the Pirates, and the other player was the British.

We ended up playing 3 games for the evening.  I won the first one (Yeah!), by taking out 2 of the 3 ships of the pirates, and I could have taken out the 3rd, but I let him go, and he knows it (). I used L'Aguila and El Duque, with a captain, cannonier, and shipwright.  The Cannonier never got used, but the shipwright came in handy for the second game, when the Pirate had to get back at the Spaniard, causing the British to win that game by being allowed to grab up all the gold, lol. The Pirate had also changed his ships, and brought out the Revenant, to go up against the Spaniard (again ) who did not change ships at all for any of the three games, unlike the British and the Pirates.

The Pirate finally won the last game, by blowing up the British ships, then coming after the Spanish, who could have won the game by haveing gotten more gold, except as I landed my last boat, they recounted the gold, and realized that we had miscounted the amount, so the Pirate took out my El Duque first, and then we had a ramming fight between the Revenant and the L'Aguila.  Would you believe I rolled three 1's! Of course he rolls 5's and 6's, so he sunk my ships and won the last game.

It was really fun!  I think the next time we play, it will be a battle of the "Giant Ships".  I want to see how El Garante goes up against the Revenant!

(I know I am going to be in a lot of trouble, come the next 7th Sea game, for sticking out my tongue at my GM, but then, I know he is Evil, so what else is there to expect?! Love Ya Mark!)

Does anyone else here find it funny that the Leon is a Spanish ship? (equating Spain with Castille in my head)

I enjoy the game quite a bit, though I don't get to play it a lot.  Most of all, I love having all those little ships.

Mmmmmm..... pretty little ships.... I have my six fighting a battle on my desk, it's random and rather cheap entertainment.

a beautiful game thats a hit with wargamers and 7th Sea-ers alike.

damn shame the packs are so hard to find - guess they didnt realise how popular the game might turn out to be.

thanks for all the gaming/visual tips, be looking forward to 7th sea conversion rules.

Not to hard to find here, just have to hit the specialty stores for them.

I equate Castille with Spain for the game too.

I think it plays well enough to be worht the time IF I could get the others to remember to bring their ships.

Expansion set should be out soon so Rebecca can start collecting multiples of new rare characters.

The two ship starter game bites very badly.

Something I noticed and got clarified by the design team... Nothing in the rules says you have to make your fleet up entirely of British ships (or pirates or Spanish)  It's more thematically fun if you do but there is no rule restricting it.  (So if Rebecca can talk them into it, she can sail The Revenant and Garante together in a larger point game next time)
