Part II in my ongoing quest to give every nation its own equestrian school.Cavalric(Jousting School):?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" />Basic Curriculum:Pole-arm,ShieldNation:Avalon/Byrn-BresailHistory:Avalon is the land of chivalry and legend, a place where the ideal of the knight in shining armor, though generally impractical, has never entirely died away.In ages past, columns of armored knights fought Avalon? enemies and mighty champions dueled at the list. The mightiest and most brazen knights became the focus of sidhe attention and many were spared from inevitable death by glamour, their spirits whisked away from their shattered bodies and taken to byrn-bresail, there to quest and joust eternally for the seelie and unseelie courts. When glamour fled the triple kingdoms, and the last of Avalon? mortal knights were cut down by foreign invaders armed with firearms and sorcery, the tradition of jousting survived beyond the timeless mist. With Queen Elaine?ascent and glamor? return, many forgotten legends were reborn, including the tradition of the armored knight.White knights appeared from the mist to rescue beleaguered travelers from monsters and brigands, black knights would challenge brash young squires on the road, and whenever and wherever they found young people strong and courageous, they would take the worthies toprentice.Whatstarted as a seelie caprice got a shot of reality when Queen Elaine called for a tradition royal joust at her the first anniversary of her inauguration. The general populace, expecting choreographed play-acting, were astounded when over a hundred fully armed and armored knights slashed in a spectacular battle.Queen Elaine enjoined the victor, John Cavalric to build a school to train young nobles in this traditional sport. With Queen Elaine? endorsement, the new old-fashioned Cavalric school became very fashionable amongst the important families and many of the richest now keep at least one Cavalric knight on retainer to fight in duels and jousts.Swordsman Knacks:Charge (Pole-Arm),Beat (Pole-arm),Lunge (Pole-Arm),Exploit Weakness (Cavalric)Practicioners of Cavalric are members of theSwordsman? Guild. In addition they receive theRiderskill for free.Apprentice:A Cavalric apprentice gains theArmor-Trained(see below) advantage. In addition they may use a pole-arm one handed from horseback. Also, they may use their Charge knack with one extra action die per mastery level while on horseback.Journeyman:A Cavalric Journeyman has learned to strike his or her opponents in center mass to send them flying from the saddle. If the journeyman scores on horseback using a lance scores a dramatic wound on his opponent the opponent will be knocked off his horse or knocked prone exactly as if struck bycorps-a-corps.Master:A Cavalric master is a knight of reknownwhose name and deeds are known far and wide, his reputation has grown into legend. The Cavalric knight may now use reputation dice asglamor dice.If the knight is already a glamour-mage he gains +10 reputation.+++Armor:Armor points for regular armor work the same way as they do for dracheneisenarmor with three exceptions.1)The bonuses never apply to firearms combat.2)Every 5 pts of armor (or fraction thereof) worn give a -1k1 penalty to all rolls involving stealth or dexterity. This includes ALL active defense rolls.3)It is impossible to swim wearing more armor points than one has points in Brawn or Swimming whichever is lower.Steel Armor provides one less armor point per piece thandracheneisen armor does: minimum one.Leather Armorprovides two less armor points per piece thandracheneisen armor does: minimum one.Armor Trained:(4pts)An armor trained character suffers one fewer kept dice of penalty for wearing armor.New Equipment:Lance. The lance is a pole-arm designed to be used one handed from horseback. It does 3k2 damage. When used on foot is awkward and suffers a ?k0 penalty to all rolls.
