Though seriously, I think the idea of underground duels is kinda neat.
The first rule of Fight Club is - you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is - you DO NOT talk about Fight Club. Third rule of Fight Club, someone yells "Stop!", goes limp, taps out, the fight is over. Fourth rule, only two guys to a fight. Fifth rule, one fight at a time, fellas. Sixth rule, no shirt, no shoes. Seventh rule, fights will go on as long as they have to. And the eighth and final rule, if this is your first night at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Members don't have to wear the pin if they don't want to,
I remeber it differently. I thought that one of the strictures of the guild was that members HAD to display their guild pin. I will check with my sorces upon my return to my evil lair.

Yes. I'm not speaking from authority, and I should have probably checked the text myself or added an IIRC in there. Sorry.

Alright, here's a Q for everyone:Those of you who want more historical information, what form do you want it in? Sidebars? A timeline? What kind of information do you want, i.e. the dates each school was admitted to the Guild, famous duels, that sort of thing?
I'm still of the mind that the present timeline is much more important than the past, but I'm interested in what kind of historical information the other camp wants to see.
I disagree that the present timeline is much more important than the past per se. The present may be of more immediate interest, but the past informs the present and provides context for all the current goings on, without which they wouldn't make any sense.
Historical information that would be essential would be events which confirmed or challenged the authority/power of the guild. For example, some montaigne duc close to Le'Emperuer kills someone in an illegal duel and they tries to tell the SG he's above their law. The SG smacks him down and Leon thanks them for it. This firmly establishes the guild's authority in places where Leon's influence reaches.
Likewise when Villainova kills all the razors sent to dispatch him it obviously flouts the guild's power.
The how did we get where we are stuff is imprtant. It would be good to see it represented graphically as a side by side branching timeline for all the nations. (If you give me the data i can work one up for you)
Oh yes, a few sidebar notes on famous duels would be fun, sort of a guiness book of worls records condensed version for longest duel on record, most duels in one day, most duels between the same two swordsmen, etc etc.

That is a cracking idea. Plenty of real world historical source material as well.

First I am a fan of background history of things, but then I am into history in general. For me History gives me a better idea on how thing will affect the subject or how the subject will react to events.
Knowing that G.V. executed 12 razors (or whatever) tells me how the SG will (or a part of it might) react to Villianova Swordsmen in general. In my game, the Vill. Master was taken down by a Snedig Master whose brother was one of the Razors that GV had killed and the man had Vendetta/Vow to kill any and all Vill. Swordsmen. It was brutal...14 DWs in two hits that the player managed to knock down to 7 DWs, spending another to stay concious while the city guard broke up the illegal impromptu-duel. The Vill. never even got a swing in due to bad Panache roll.
That being said, the SG just isn't old enough to have much of a history. A few duels listing, a few milestone markers are about all the I wouls expect/want to be honest.

Hey everyone, I'm still here and still interested. It looks like the planning for the Guild eBook is underway already and there's some great conversation going on. I'm open for helping out and all, but I can't do much right now because I'm swamped with College Apps and too many projects to count. I'll try get in my two cents when I can though.
Till next time. Thanks for doing this guys.

Right know I'm doing the Guild of San Marcos, and I think I'll be doing the main Swordsman's Guild Chapterhouse in Kirk too. A friend suggested I should pick a third fencing academy; anyone have any ideas on which it should be?
Also, what details do you people want to see? Right now I'm aiming for major masters (Eduardo Montevada in San Marcos for example), basic plans of the facilites, training costs, schedules, regulations, available schools, notable students, etc. Any other ideas?
