As always this post is mostly for entertainment purposes. As I have no group I haven't had the opportunity to playtest these ideas properly.

The reason for this idea is the fact, that from a min-maxers point of view spending actions on defence simply isn't efficient enough, it is more efficient to just attack with all actions. this can of course be countered by proper roleplaying etc. but I regard that as a fix rather than a solution, the game's rules should encourage in-genre behaviour.

I see two ways of encouraging parrying, one is decreasing the difficulty to parry to (attacker's attack skill*5)+5 to bring it into line with the rest of the system, and the other is to somehow modify the damage system to make taking damage seem more of a problem.

THe last bit is the problem, seeing how I actually *like* the fundamentals of the damage system as they are. I like the division between Brawn and Will a lot. so my new suggestion is: if a character gets hit, he takes a die penalty to all attacks for the rest of the round equal to 1+(number of DWs inflicted), this is probably non-cumulative.

This obviously changes the machanics quite a bit, but does make wounds hurt somewhat more, without being overpowering, it also makes unkept dice more valuable.

any thoughts?
