Present, Future, Past GameYeah, so time travel may be a bit cliche` but I always enjoy a time traveling story. Please understand that this is a work in progress and I don't have all the details worked out yet, just a vague idea where I want the story and players to go.PresentCabora has risen out of the dark, black depths of the ocean. All the nations of Theah sign a treaty in which each promises ships and men to keep pirates, explorers, and each other away from the dangerous island. Our heroes (PCs) are on board an Avalonian privateer ship called the Starry Night. On a cloudless, full moon night, parts of Cabora light up (after months of inactivity). The sea rages, blue lightning is striking the island, then it all suddenly stops. After a week of debate and arguing, The Starry Night draws the short straw, so to speak, and is sent to investigate what is happening on Cabora. After much trap dodging, they (PCs on Starry Night)come upon a massive chamber with near limitless gears, switches, and gauges along the walls in ceiling. As they approach this chamber, they hear "NO!!!! Why won't it work?"The heroes are to apprehend this man, if they decide not, I'll just have the man instigate matters. He draws what looks like a gun to the heroes (well, it is a gun...just a 9mm). This guy is ofcourse from the future. Also note, he has a strange metallic bracelet with blue lights on his right wrist...more than a bracelet, more like a armguard I guess. This device lets him time travel normally, but it has malfunctioned and won't let him return to his time but will still let him stop or slow time for a few moments. After a short fight and it looks like he's about to lose, he uses the device to get away. He takes their rowboats, head to the Starry Night and steals it (forces the crew, threatens them with death, etc).I must convince the heroes to go chase after this man. Perhaps, something important aboard the boat or he killed an important NPC that was with them and they want revenge. Future-Man is journeying across Theah, going to different Syreneth sites (discovered and well known by his time), hoping to find the parts he needs to repair a time traveling device on Cabora (the massive dome). During his travels, he meets a Unseelie that learns about this man and his situation. The Unseelie wants ultimate power and thinks he can find something in the future to bring back to the past that will help him accomplish his goals. He helps and uses Future-Man, until he fixes the device. All this time, the heroes are chasing this pair across Theah as the villains go from one Syreneth site to the next.In the final confrontation between the villains and heroes, Unseelie betrays Future-Man and Unseelie escapes to the future. During Future-Man death scene, he reveals to the heroes where and when he is from and apologizes for the mistakes he made. He just wanted to get back to the woman he loved and used extreme measures in order to do so. But now it seems, that he will never see her again. He pulls out a digital camera and shows them a picture of her. With his dying breath he says, "You must stop him. If he brings back anything to this era, he could drastically alter events and destroy my world along with yours. Go to her(woman in picture), she will help you"FutureOk, I don't have this planned out as well yet (but I will). Pretty much, they'll chase Unseelie around as he tries to get his hand on some weapon to take back to the past...probably a nuke and guns. In the future, magic still exists but it is extremely rare, and most of the time, a sorceror will be only half blooded. However, Glamour and the Sidhe are thought to be just legend, as neither exists in this world anymore, thus making our Unseelie villain dangerous in this era, since people of this time won't know what to expect from him. Eventually, heroes will defeat him and use the device to take them back home. Only, the device malfunctions, though they don't know that yet. Please note, I have some things planned out for the nations and societies and what has happened to them within the next 300 years. Oh by the way, the Future-Man was from America, or the alternate America for this game...need a name for that if anyone can think of one.PastAlright, I only have a very vague idea what I'm going to do here. Pretty much, the heroes are know back in ancient Theah, during the golden age of Numa. Gonna do the Gladiator thing here most likely. Heroes witness the Bargain, where Sorcery is started. Eventually, they'll get the device fixed and return to their own time. That's a brief overview of what I have written down right now. Let me know what you think. As a player, would you enjoy playing something like this? Any suggestions or ideas for the future and past would be appreciated too...I'll never throw away a good idea.

  Not a bad idea overall.

Problem that comes most readily to mind is in the Present.  Specifically, how does this one guy successfully hijack the party's ship?  OK, an automatic pistol will have a definite surprise value in this era (can imagine the Invisible College and others getting very keen about that), and being able to stop / slow time is extremely helpful as well.  However, the guy has to sleep sometime, his pistol will have only limited ammo, the time stop thing is also limited and he is arguably NOT indestructible.

The ship's crew is overawed by his capabilities?  Doubtful.  Magic, artifacts and generic weird beings are all not exactly unknown - anyone he encounters will probably make assumptions along these lines.   Most likely, the thinking would then run along the lines of waiting until he is asleep, or his back is turned, then doing whatever makes the most sense.

I should prefice this critique with the comment that I do like the plot.  I read it and thought, I know exactly what type of campaign this would work for.  In a 'cliffhangers'-type pulp adventure this would rock (as a matter of fact I may just steal parts of it for a Cliffhangers game I am working on).  However, I'm not seeing it for 7th Sea.  I don't mean to be a stick in the mud (well maybe I do a little bit) but the kind of adventures I want to play in 7th Sea simply don't involve time-travel.  That's not to say a Past/Present/Future type of campaign won't work.  It seems to me there are a myriad of ways to involve the heroes in something like that (telling the story non-linearly is the easiest).  I have also heard of campaigns where each of the players has three copies of their character (starting hero, peak of their career, and retired veteran) where the heroes fight against 'Villain X' at various points in their careers, finally defeating him in the end.  That done, they go back to their starting hero characters and fight the next villain.

Anyway, just my 2.346735486467 cents worth
