So,
Who amongst you is planning on playing this game when it comes out? I know I will be and I am already looking to see who else will be so that maybe I can link up with some of my Seventh Sea Brethren. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check it out at burningsea.com

Are they close to releasing it?  Seems the Burning Sea has been in Beta since before steam powered ships.


And yes, it is something I am interested in trying.

The Pre-Order Box hits shelves on Oct. 23rd. The game is scheduled to do open Beta for about 50 days before the actual live date. Though they are being hush hush about throwing out an actual date (other than the pre-order box) most estimates and popular rumor suggest that the game will go live in December. I have a friend that is in the beta and the game looks phenomenal. Of course, all of this info goes with the standard 'due to the nature of the gaming business, everything I just said may be total and complete BS' disclaimer.

oh, right. this is that online video game where you have to run the ship and crews and stuff. Yeah, not really my domain of talent and My experience in online gaming is you run around zap a bunch of computer controlled monsters and get insulted by 12 year olds for not being more efficient and that's called roleplaying for some reason.

Well, I agree.  What most people call computer role-playing is really just computer war-gaming.  I might as well set up Panzer Blitz or Risk.  But wait!  I like war gaming.  So I am interested.

I know a couple of the people in the closed beta, and i've been begging, threatening,  pleading and promising myself to them in all sorts of interesting ways to get details, screenies and even another beta code from them.


From what I hear the gameplay is quite slick and avoids the usual "go here, kill 20 minions and come back".  Some of the missions they have mentioned include  intercepting a ship, boarding it and defeating the crew and stealing the cargo, then getting to a friendly port without getting sunk, Assaulting a rival pirates clifftop hideaway and seducing the govenors daughter to get a pardon (although I'm not sure he wasn't pulling my leg with that one).


I'm looking forward to it.
